Some of the fight scenes were a bit over the top and too long, but overall this was an enjoyable flic and an interesting take on the Superman genre. It is also interesting to note that Superman's father is "El"- Hebrew for "God" and Superman's name is "Kal-El"- the "Voice of God." Never occurred to me the Biblical connections in the story- but there are quite a number!
Once again, 3D disappoints. The story is sweet and enjoyable to watch, but I think it would have been just as good in 2D. I hate ruining the "5" this has had, but cannot give it that rating- the 3D just wasn't worth the extra money- as it never has been thus far. But, if you want to watch and entertaining and sweet story that is kiddie frienjdly, this movie is recommended.
Nothing like going to the movies, suspending disbelief, and being entertained for two plus hours. Fast paced, crazy stunt work, with plenty of humor and the sure knowledge of a number 7 in the future!
Lots of action, some odd moments as well. There seemed to be either a whole lotta deference to the original series, or lack of new ideas, hopefully the former. Wife was disappointed that there was so much repetition of old themes- in her view. But, if you're a Trekkie- and by the ratings it appears most who went to see this are- you'll enjoy the flic.
Lewd and crude, with many LOLs and quite a few ROFLs. Cannot recommend to those with weak stomachs, but if you are a person who is not fazed by movie violence/gore you might enjoy this. Bottom line: pathetic and sad trio, but the story is told with lotsa laughs.
Having read the reviews here I was wondering how I would feel about this movie. As an amateur baseball historian I know only too well what Jackie Robinson went through. The movie had to tone down some of the slurs to keep its rating- a good move since everyone should see this movie to see what a true hero looks like.
While Jackie wasn't perfect(the only One that was was crucified 2000 years ago) and the film avoids this, nonetheless, for what it wanted to do and show- a brief look into the baseball life of the first black to play in MLB(technically not true since there was a black catcher briefly back in 1884) and what he had to endure.
Thanks to Jackie's legacy, we now can truly see the greatest ballplayers on the field of play. While one could quibble about the details, this film gets an unqualified 5 stars from this reviewer!
This is a fun movie to enjoy without putting on your thinking cap. Lotsa action as well as humor. Once again, the 3-D was not worth the extra cost. But if you want to be entertained, see this flic!
From the dubious reviews here, I feared this would be a yawner chick flick. It's not. It's not Die Hard by any stretch, but is interesting with a good story and includes some twists and turns that are surprising. Worth a watch IMO.
