Too dark and not for kids

Even my husband who loves "boy flicks" found The Dark Knight TOO dark, too long, and too boring.
While we grew up in an age where nearly every Elementary School child watched Batman and Robin, this version is not for small kids.
The acting is the high point - pretty much cross the board for the main, male actors. Heath Ledger was amazing as the joker, but all the male leads put in stellar performances - not always matched by the women.
Plot wasn't anything special -- it could have been a compilation of a bunch of B movies with extra violence thrown in and I wouldn't have noticed.
Would I pay $11 to see it again? No way - but it is worth seeing once, especially since it's Ledger's last time on the silver screen.
