Nice effects, sweet characters, very weak storytelling. Fine for kids who love the books. Big disappointment compared to other 2 films.
No, I do not recommend this movie.

Much of the movie is compelling; the teen love, friendship (and Quiddich!) subplots in book six are handled with just the right note--funny and touching; appropriate for any kid. But the darker, deeper plot lines, including Harry's personal pain, are muddied to the point that the book/movie's stunning conclusion isn't stunning at all. Maybe that's why there's no emotional release for viewers. There isn't actually a whole lot of emotion to release! There are departures from the book that seemed pointless plotwise, and some bad cuts toward the end. My bet: there's a better (much longer) movie on the cutting room floor. Overall: painless, funny with supercool effects and fine acting--and vaguely empty.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

lots of sexual innuendo that is very very innappropriate for kids ages 10-12 who are just old enough to understand but not old enough to really be exposed to it. Completely unnecessary to the plot. For adults, movie is darn boring and predictable. My 14 year old and I knew who the killer was the moment the killer came on the screen. Some funny moments, but no wit.
No, I do not recommend this movie.

Terrific movie for all ages--what a surprise! The kids dragged me to a 3-D preview (while the glasses were a kick, I thought the movie would have been just as entertaining without the 3-d) and I expected the usual kid fare (all the plots seem the same these days). Instead, it was closer to The Incredibles in terms of the wit. Yes, it got predictable toward the end, and the Hollywood in-jokes will be over the heads of most kids, but overall loads of fun and laughs for all.
Yes, I recommend this movie.
