I've read the books of course, but was really interested in what my girlfriend would say when she went to the movie with me having no idea what the story was about having not read them. I assumed there would be some creative license with the script writing but I didn't mind the changes. The thoughtful camera angles, artistic film washes and montages made it feel extremely artsy, I dug that. I thought the sarcastic humor and slapstick notions fit well with Stephanie Meyer's original intentions. The special effects were super fun, and the music fit in well with a Teen's First love. My girlfriend who went with me thought it was an entertaining movie, and to truthful it made her want to read the book.
