Moneyball is a great change of pace from the movies that have been released this summer. It's not a crazy comedy, a love story or an action movie. Instead it is a classic story of an underdog reversing the odds in his favor. The script is terrific and captures the essence of the book without all the detail, which was very interesting but not suitable for a mass audience. The acting is what you would expect from Brad Pitt and Phillip Seymour Hoffman but better than you might expect from Jonah Hill. Here's a case where a supporting actor really makes the movie work. The film is truly enjoyable from beginning to end and you don't have to be a baseball fan to appreciate it.
It seems that every year around this time, a little indy movie pops up and just overwhelms the big money films that surround it. "Juno" was one of those. This year it's "An Education." A terrific cast, great acting and a quirky story all combine for an enjoyable movie experience. You can never guarantee anything these days, but this is a film that lots of people will like.
This is what movie-making is all about. The movie was riveting from start to finish. All the key actors (Washington, Travolta, Gandolfini and Turtorro) were great. This is one remake that is every bit as good, if not better, than the original. For a real entertaining experience, don't miss this picture.
A terrific movie! Clint Eastwood's pacing and the way that he invoves you in the story is wonderful. As usual, Angelina Jolie gives an outstanding acting performance --- very believable. Jeffrey Donovan is excellent in a supporting role as a true villain. It is certainly one of the best movies I've seen this year.
