You have to give Julia credit for wanting to make something out of this great book - but all that came out was a highly predictable, schmaltzy, superficial, sterile version of what this really could have been.
I was really looking forward to this movie, but what a disappointment. Recommend a remake, would still very much like to see this material succeed in a screen version. Again, thanks to Julia and the supporting actors for trying.

Better than expected but dumb ending

Much better and funnier than expected - they did a good job with this movie overall, but I did not like the end - too predictable. Definitely worth almost every minute.
