Overall I have to say this was a great concert experience. It definitely would have been good to see live. Some of the highlights for me were Jonny Lang, Vince Gill and Robert Cray. Vince did a hot version of Lay Down Sally. Robert Cray was fantastic with some hot licks on the guitar, same with Mr. Lang. Sheryl Crow added some great vocals in there. ZZ Top , was ...well ..ZZ Top..I sure hope their new Rick Rubin inspired CD has some of their old bluesy funk to it, we will see, if and when it actually comes out. Eric did some servicable work. But for Eric he always does this now. I wish he would 'stretch' out a bit more from time to time. Steve Winwood sounds the same as he did at 17, amazing. A lot of good backup musicians and Bill Murray MC'd a few songs. I will probably buy this on BluRay when it comes out.
It's hard to say if this movie is better than the first, not that I am comparing. Iron Man 2 stands on it's own as some great escapism. The interaction between Pepper and Tony is still what makes this movie go around. They have a good chemistry and it shows in both films. Lots of action. Jon Favreau does another great job as director! The addition of Scarlett Johnsson is great eye candy, but I also think she does a good job in her role. Mickey Rourke plays a great villain. Samuel Jackson unfortunately does not add a lot. I like him, but he still needs another GOOD role. Sam Rockwell is good and Don Cheadle as the Colonel has a beefier role this time. All the way around a good weekend escape and great action movie.
This film was long, but I never noticed it. It carries you right through from start to finish. Some will say as is always the case with 'remakes'...although this is most certainly NOT a remake , that it doesn't compare to the Costner version, nor to the older movies. Who cares? Not I, this film is a prequel of sorts, taking us from what may have happened to the mythical Robin Hood before he became the legend of Sherwood Forest. For that reason alone I give the producers an A. We are led to believe that before Robin and his merry men came along that times were maybe not as jovial. I believe this and the movie convinced me. There were still moments of brevity and I was convinced it could have been like this. I liked the movie and I would highly recommend it.
