This opera was a wonderful surprise. We hadn't heard of it before but went to see it based on the composer and the star. We were not disappointed in it's greatness.

I don't think many people are aware of this opera. I choose it for three reasons:
1.) I hadn’t seen an opera on the big screen of a movie theater
2.) It is a Verdi opera.
3.) It starred Placido Domingo
I didn’t realize that there was another reason. It is all that an opera should be: wonderful music, wonderful singers, great costumes, spectacular sets and heavy drama. As a added bonus, a behind the scenes view of the stage hands at work and wonderful intermission interviews with René Fleming.
All great stuff!
