A deeply anti-war movie with tremendous characterizations by the two main protagonists. Woody Harrelson has proven once and for all that he has it in him to be a serious actor. Belongs in the pantheon of Iraq/Afghanistan movies with In the Valley of Elah and Hurt Locker.
This is Woody Allen's best work in quite a while. A bit slow at times, but beautifuilly crafted and well acted. Way too much is made in the press of the Cruz-Johanssen kissing scenes; they are short and almost irrelevant to the plot. Javier Bardem is masterful.
