Let me say first of that I absolutely LOVED the first book. Unfortunately I was pretty disappointed with the movie. Woody Harelson is really good but the rest of the cast was unmemorable. Jennifer Lawrence is so stoic and emotionally vacant that the heartfelt scenes fall flat, and long stretches of the film teeter on the edge of boredom. To keep the PG-13 rating the camera shakes wildly during all the fight scenes or cuts away so you can't tell what...'s happening half the time. The command center is cool - if only they could lose the god-aweful storm trooper meets Super Dave outfits of the capital people. I thought the training scenes were good (a little rushed), and some of the scenes of the games themselves were well done, but as a whole it was nothing I'd watch twice.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

After anxiously waiting for close to a year I finally got to see Breaking Dawn part 1 yesterday. Even with all of that build it it did not disappoint. It stays very true to the book, which for us Twihards is a must, but still added a few good surprises. All the key scenes I couldn't wait to see brought to life were there and were tastefully done. The only knock I have against the whole film is the scene where the wolves are communicating with each othr in wolf form, which comes across kind of kiddyish. Overall they did an awesome job! I'm off to see it again!
Yes, I recommend this movie.

After eagerly waiting for several months I finally got to see Eclipse this afternoon. It was well worth the wait.
The storyline stays true to the book, the action sequences were outstanding and there are several light moments that got widespread laughs as well.
The acting by the cast overall is easily the best of the 3 films. Bryce Dallas-Howard is a noticable step down as Victoria but her part is fairly small and she still delivers a decent performance. Kristen Stewart really stepped up her game and handled her characters transition well. Taylor Lautner was not quite as impressive as he was in New Moon but still was memorable.
The flashback scenes were very well done and did not seem corny at all (i.e. Edward and Bella running in New Moon). The romance is definitely there as well and the kiss between Jacob and Bella couldn't have been setup better.
If I wanted to knit pick (which I tend to do even for movies that I love) I would say that at times the story is a bit choppy. I wish they would have added 10-15 minutes to smooth some of the transitions between scenes but it's not a huge negative.
Get out and see it as soon (and as often) as you can!! We will have to wait over a year for the next one :(
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Being a huge Twilight fan, I raced to see New Moon only to find myself contrasting the movie to the book the entire time. It was my wife (not a twilight fan) who was raving about the movie while I left feeling a bit disappointed. That changed when I saw it again. The movie does an outstanding job of translating a very dark, emotional, slow moving book into something that works on the big screen while staying true to the storyline . The special effects are incredible and the acting by the entire cast was greatly improved. The only criticism I still have is the added fight with the Volturri. While it was well done, it creates a paradox with Eclipse and BD (Since Alice and Edward's abilities apparently don't help them at all in a fight).
Yes, I recommend this movie.
