This is NOT a comedy but it's a pretty good drama with complex characters, and dramatic tension. Debra Winger's role is small but she is perfect. What's nifty about the film is the matter of factness with which it deals with the nuptials of a white woman and a black man. This family has issues, but race is not one of them. A bit like a Robert Altman film, and I've read that this was intentional.
Yes, I recommend this movie.
