It's never a good sign when you're laughing (at, not with) during an action movie. We've seen enough post-apocalyptic movies to know that fuel and ammo are precious resources, yet they blow through them with impunity in this movie. The Sam Worthington character appears out of the wilderness, hasn't a clue about Judgment Day, and Kyle doesn't even ask him his name? Please. And the machines? Ruthlessly efficient killers--unless they are shooting at one of the main characters. Connor says he has to save Kyle because "our future depends on it." What, is he going to disappear like Marty McFly if his parents don't meet and have s*x in a motel room? Wait for the DVD.
I am a longtime Bond fan and I loved Daniel Craig in Casino Royale, but two things disappointed me about this movie. First was the tight camera work and quick cuts on the action scenes. We were so close to the action that we couldn't tell what was going on half the time. It took all the suspense out of the scene since there was no context. Second was that there was nothing that set him apart as a suave British Secret Service agent. He could have been any generic action hero. In fact, I found myself thinking of Jack Bauer from "24" going rogue, running from one scene to the next on his own agenda.
