I thought it was pretty good despite having new characters. The advice I gave my friends to see this movie is yes it's a sequel, but you have to go in to see it like if you were seeing the first Pirates for the first time. It's a new adventure & movie with the potential for another sequel plus new characters that we can eventually see again. Johnny Depp is brilliant as Capt. Jack Sparrow & you'll see a new side of him as the movie progresses. The IMAX version was pretty good, but this is a movie that you can see in any version whether it's regular, 3D, or IMAX.
Yes, I recommend this movie.
