First of all, Jim Broadbent gave a brilliant as Professor Horace Slughorn. Indeed, for a movie that I expected to be featuring much more of the excellent Alan Rickman than past movies in the series, I was pleasantly surprised by how much Broadbent's performance took over the screen. In general, it was nice to see some of the adult cast of the Harry Potter series to finally get some more screen time.
Overall, the movie was affecting and well executed. A very nice addition to the Harry Potter series.
I'm not a big Star Trek fan, but I have fond memories of watching reruns of the original series as a kid as well as the big screen movies with the original cast.
This movie was awesome! It distilled everything that was great about that original series, and gave it back to you with a few new twists. A perfect balance of character, action, humor, and drama.
I consider myself to be better-than-average informed about federal fiscal policy, but this movie showed me just how far better-than-average is from expert or even knowledgeable. After seeing the movie, I'm seriously reconsidering my voting priorities and reshuffling my concerns within the larger context of how they play out in fiscal reform.
Everything in this movie manages to hit exactly the right note. Robert Downey Jr is brilliant as Tony Stark. Gwenyth Paltrow's Pepper Potts is a perfect balance of "assistant" and "empowered modern woman". Jeff Bridges' character is the most low-key but well-played comic book "bad guy" I've seen in ages. And the special effects only enhance the otherwise well-acted movie, rather than overwhelm.
