As Dan White says, "You're not like other gay men, are you?" If that's what you think, maybe you don't know enough gay men. The movie is a triumph of commitment, dedication, and heart. It's a saga. It's a love story. It's an inspiration to everyone who loves what America stands for. Hope, Justice, and Equality. From a 60-something straight white guy, go see the movie.

If you want to go to the movies to escape and be entertained with predictable scenes and a comfortable wrap-up, this is NOT your movie. If you want simplistic, slapstick humor, this is NOT your movie. If you like to think about your films, go. A great indicator of the experience is the fact that there are so many 1's and 5's in these reviews. The audience in my theater LOVED it and roared through half the movie. Other people obviously saw nothing funny and were offended by the repetitive "f-word". If you prefer to turn your brain off when you go into a theater, stay home from this one. Otherwise, it's a smash, and if you don't get it, that's not the Cohen brothers' nor the actors' problem.
The movie is light-hearted escapist entertainment (one of the great reasons for going to movies). It won't win any Oscars, but it is funny and fun. There are moments of out-of-your-seat, rolling-on-the-floor, belly-hurts funny.
