i love fellini firstly and i enjoyed this movie, but from my perspective it is just loosely based on the maestro or 8.5. perhaps they should have stuck a bit to his creativity, instead of the demeaning and sad consequences of his affairs. the dance bits were fantastic, hollywood at its best and staging with cages, etc was similar to chicago. the ladies were superb and looked so very beautiful, overall this film was entertaining in the scenery and performance but the story was a bit grim. daniel day lewis is a superb actor but i feel he was on one track with no movement outside of one attitude. while the smoking is essential, it was excessive.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

The attention to detail, patterning and color are superb. Adapting to the animation style requires some adjustment, but it becomes an acceptable vehicle to tell the story, funny how the digital world will do that to us. The multi-cultural unity is a message that clearly bespeaks a way to be in the world and where it is going–with the Islamic culture and with all cultures. The message is: lets get along and love one another. Ambitious work. I loved the lion and horses, the dark to light in the final scene.
Yes, I recommend this movie.
