Good, not the best

I was concerned about this film, because Tim Burton doesn't always do silly well (in other words, I was afraid this would be another Charlie and the Chocolate Factory). I was pleased to find that the film worked well. The special effects were good, and the story kept a good pace.
Having said that, it wasn't exactly groundbreaking cinema either. While entertaining, this was not a redefining version of the Alice tales. I also saw it in 3D, and I recommend against spending extra for it. Unlike with Avatar and Coraline, 3D did not add much to the viewing experience.
In summary, this is a pretty good movie. Go see it if you like Tim Burton, but don't expect it to become your new favorite Tim Burton film.
