I got to see this broadcast live via Fathom and it was a blast. If you even liked the MST3K treatment of schlock movies only a little bit, you'll be sure to like what they do with these old Christmas shorts. The audience I was with cracked up loud and long. Super fun.
Anne has a terrific eye for hilarity, as well as a superb ability to move an audience with some very touching moments. Her direction unequivocally made this movie a genuine success on all levels. She pulled the absolute best from her actors and everyone involved in the production of this exceptional film. The movement, or flow of this movie is top notch. There isn't a moment that causes your mind to wander. Your focus stays exactly where it should be at all times; on this thoroughly DELIGHTFUL movie. This is not only an enjoyable feature, but it also leaves you completely satisfied. (Although you may want to see it again!) I know I can't wait to. And I want to bring everyone I know with me. I "propose" you do the same!
Wow, for a remake AND a horror movie, this one hit it out of the park. Very rare for me to like new horror movies these days. The story was changed just enough from the original to make it seem MORE original, but not too much to make it unrecognizable. And at least one key scene from the original was included, in a different way, but oh so satisfying. Making it an R rating completely saved it. A PG-13 tweener movie would have ruined it, just like so many others these days. The 3-D was excellent. Not just the in your face fun stuff, but the whole look and feel of the picture. If you want horror, suspense, and a surprise or two to make you cringe, this is it. Go see My Bloody Valentine. I just may return myself...
