We didn't read the book. My 3rd grade daughter and 4th grade son enjoyed the movie. My 1st grade daughter became a little bored about half of the way in. I liked that it was thought-provoking for my two older children. My husband thought there would be more action, but that's typical. I really liked the time period and the movie as a whole.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

I give it a B as an adult. It was def. entertaining, but there wasn't enough adult humor in the movie. The kids give it an A+. I have girls 6 and 8 years and my son is 9 yrs. My oldest daughter didn't think there was enough stuff flying at her in the 3D version. My 6 year old loved that there wasn't a lot of stuff flying at her.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Our children, who are 8, 7, and 5 years old loved this movie. It was enjoyable for the whole family. We watched it in 3D and it felt like you were flying with the dragons.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

All three of my children liked it. They are ages 5, 7, and 8. My son who is the 8 year old enjoyed it the most. It was a little hard to understand what The Mad Hatter was saying, so my two youngest girls were a little bored at times. As an adult, I really like 3D, but paying so much extra for children who may or may not put the glasses on seems a bit too much. It would be nice to bring our own from home. Then I wouldn't stress about them hurting their eyes while watching a blurry screen. At one point, my 5 year old dropped her glasses and couldn't find them. She watched the rest of the movie without glasses.
My daughters LOVED the movie. It was cute, had a good message, and most importantly, my 4 year old sat still for the WHOLE movie. The villain was not too scary, and the movie flowed well. The Throwdown Hoedown song is delightful.
My 7 yr. old son, and 6 yr old daughter LOVED the movie. At the end, there is a scary looking part that I covered my 4 yr old's eyes for, but other than that it was a good family movie. (Bolt is also PG) They all stayed in their seats and were riveted. My husband and I liked it too. We are a bit tired of animated family movies, this was a nice change.
