Despite the fact that the plot of the movie is fairly ordinary and predictable, I still found it enjoyable to watch and it was a good evening's entertainment.. I have to admit that I love SciFi and action adventures, so I was predisposed to enjoy the film. It didn't hurt that the main characters are nice to look at.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Avatar is the most stunningly beuatiful movies that I have seen in many years. The extraordinary artistic creativity and attention to detail created a truly wonderous alien world. It is definitely a must see film.
They story itself is standard fantasy/science fiction fare. It is an old-fashioned morality tale, which certainly isn't a bad thing, but don't expect nuance, complexity, or character development.
I didn't think the 3D added much to the experience and was distracting at times.
Avatar has raised the bar on movie making, and brings back the sense of wonder to films that so many of us had as children.
Yes, I recommend this movie.
