The previous carefree and "easily clicking" cast disappeared during this movie. There were continuous relationship strains demonstrated between the cast. The acting/script was not funny especially compared to the original. This movie should have never been made. Skip.
I couldn't decide whether this was supposed to be serious or funny. Every preview I saw made it look funny but the movie portrayed a different emotion. Skip it in theaters and wait for the DVD.
This movie gave an overall view of American families struggling with unemployment and financial difficulties. The one thing that I think the movie lacks is that it depicts families going from riches to rags instead of centralizing a focus on a middle class family. Overall the cast worked well together and the movie was enjoyable. It contained humor and emotion, and moved at a good pace. I would recommend it.
The movie opened and finished well. The story line was great and the directors couldn't have chosen a better cast. Leave the kids at home and enjoy a night out!
Of course the movie was filled with stupid comedy--what more did anyone expect? Absolutely hysterical--if you liked Superbad/40 Year old Virgin this is the movie for you! Older adults may want to rent on DVD as they may not find it as funny as the 'younger' generation!
This movie was very cute especially when you view it with a six year old. I found myself laughing out loud at some points and enjoyed it very much. Definite must see with kids, nieces, nephews and cousins.
When I saw the preview for this movie, I thought that the story line was incredible. I also figured with all the big names (Angelina Jolie, James McAvoy and Morgan Freeman), that the movie would be nothing less than enjoyable. The acting was not bad it was the story line that totally through the characters off. Well it started out okay but by the end of the movie I totally zoned it out because it was so unrealistic. It was not totally unbearable but in a way it almost made you think about what a possible writer could have been thinking when he wrote the middle and ending scenes. I wouldn't see it again, nor would I recommend it as a must see to others.
Steve Carell is a total hit in this movie. His sarcasm bleeds through and allows the audience to break into laughter, not once and not twice, the laughter is almost constant. I would see this movie again and would definetely recommend it to anyone looking for a good laugh.
What a horrible, horrible film. Yes, that is the only appropriate way to begin the review for this movie. Being an absolute Mark Wahlberg fan to the death, I went to see this movie in hopes that it would be comparable to Four Brothers or The Departed. I was more than wrong. How could they put such an incredible actor with so many huge film hits in such a horrendous movie? After the characters in the movie jumped off buildings and attempted to RUN IN FRONT OF THE WIND, I was completely done. Fifty bucks down the drain and quite frankly it would be five dollars down the drain to rent.
Let's start with the negative. The acting in this movie was obviously not the best. You know when your sitting in the theatre and a line is delivered and it seems not very beleivable to the audience, well that thought crossed my mind a few times. Other than the acting problem (Maybe could have chosen a better cast), the story line was excellent. It reminds us of what our Services (Marines, Army, Navy, etc.) are fighting for. The movie is absolutely wonderful.
