Disappointing to Book Lovers

I'm a teacher and have read the entire Percy Jackson series. I went into the movie very open-minded, already hearing that it was not like the book in many instances. Even still, I was disappointed by how far it deviated from the story. Plot, characters, so much was wrong. Even the identity of the "lightning thief" was wrong! Now, for those not familiar with the novels, it is a decent action film. I liked the visual effects and the realism of the creatures like the centaurs and satyrs. Overall, not a bad film, but as a book-to-movie conversion, it was poor and definitely not one I will be adding to my home collection.
No, I do not recommend this movie.
