I went to this movie as a Sherlock Holmes devotee ( my wife is related to ACD). I anticipated not liking it...forced conventions from the books, disloyalty to the original characters, etc. is what I expected.In fact, I loved it and will see it again...there is much that can be missed in this action pact fast paced movie which does in fact borrow from the original in themes, characters and some style. Doyle, by the way, was very much into mysticism which is highlighted here. Very good acting, great chemistry between Holmes and Watson ( Newman-Redford-esq) and snappy witty dialogue, even when predictable, make this a laugh out loud , edge of your seat thriller. And of course, the door is open at the end for a sequel....jolly good!
Yes, I recommend this movie.
