My wife and I took our daughters, 8 & 12 to see this. Honestly, I think I wanted to see it more than them. The cast was great and it seemed like they were having a great time with the voice-overs.
The animation was great. Some folks say that Dreamworks is a step behind Pixar. Not to me... They're right up there. Take your whole family. This movie is G-rated all they way. Not even any suggestions of anything inappropriate.
