Opening scen moved me greatly. Decent story. Funny lines from Spock: "You're in my chair". Yay, Bones and Scotty.
My Number One peeve: J.J. Abrams has what in cinematography is called a "flare" (blinding light) in almost every scene! In the old days, a flare was a MISTAKE, a no-no, and might lead to a reshoot of that scene. Flares are (a) distracting, (b) repetitive, and (c) hurt my eyes 3000 or 4000 times.
Spock and Uhura kiss in the Transporter Room? On a military vessel? It's not a pleasure cruise!
SOUND? OVER 100dB.
Yes, I recommend this movie.
