I went to see this movie on 3D Imax with a 38 year old male techno/sci-fi self-admitted nerd, two 11 year old girls and 31 year old female disliker of sci-fi...as well as myself a 38 year old female lover of fantasy/sci-fi. Everyone raved over this movie. It was long, over 2 1/2 hours, but no one felt the time go by. Yeah the plot was not new but the writing and the acting and the editing made it fresh and brought another planets civilization alive in a way never captured before. I have never gone back to see a movie in the theatre...but for this one I would. I have bought only a handfull of movies on DVD, this is a no brainer. If you don't go to see another movie this year...this is one to see.
Yes, I recommend this movie.
