Captivating movie covering an issue I was not aware of. A little slow at times but fascinating account of one of sports' unknown pioneers. My wife who is not a baseball fan found it to be a really good movie.
Quirky plot but beautiful visual effects. Not in the top ten for Michael Douglas. The original was much better. As Michael would put it, "same dog but with fleas".
Will Farrell carries this movie. Unfortunately Mark Wahlberg (great in action movies) comes off a bit flat as does (surprisingly) Michael Keaton. Loved all the gags, environmental greenies are gagging at all the Prius jokes.
Expected better from Robert Downing Jr. Reminded me of the last "Pirates of the Carribean", all special effects, thin unbelievable plot. Lastly, to portray Sherlock Holmes as a James Bond type must make Sir Arthur Conan Doyle roll in his grave. The one positive in this movie were the visuals and special effects. I would rename this movie "Ironman in the 19th century"
The only thing propping this movie up is the 3D effects. Not as clever as previous Final Destination versions. Too graphic in detail. Actually funny at times.
