I don't quite understand the invective people are hurling at Eat, Pray, Love. Seems based in such bitterness and hard-heartedness. Call me a sap, but I found this movie inspirational, moving, and authentic.
Julia Roberts, Billy Crudup, and Richard Jenkins were particularly good. Javier Bardem was pretty great, too. The locations and the cinematography were gorgeous.
I thought the story was told with considerable skill, given the challenge of making a largely inner journey external.
Was it perfect? No. Was it good, solid entertainment. Definitely yes.
