Very good movie about what happens behind the scenes of baseball-- the politics and decisions of the front office-- rather than out on the field. Don't go expecting to see a lot of ball playing; that is secondary to the story of Billly Beane (Brad Pitt), who has regrets about decisions made in his earlier life and tries to rectify them as a GM. Jonah Hill does a great job as a nerdy numbers-cruncher, conveying that he really loves baseball as much as statistics. Good subplot about Billy Beane trying to stay connected to his 12 yr. old daughter after divorce.
Not sure it would hold the attention of kids 12 and under—not enough action, more of a thinking movie. The movie opens with Johnny Damon in an Oakland A's uniform and Red Sox fans will love the occasional scenes of Fenway Park and Yawkey Way.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Ben Affleck outdid himself with both direction and acting in this movie. Violent, but very exciting, will really get your heart rate up! Engaging story. If you live in/near Boston, you will love the scenery. Only downside is it gives Charlestown a bad rap.
You have to go into it knowing it is NOT a biopic about Nelson Mandela, though he plays a major role. It is mostly about his philosophy on life-- forgiveness and peace is the answer to hatred and oppression-- and how he uses it to get the country behind the white-favored but losing rugby team in order to unite the country post-apartheid. Morgan Freeman makes a great Mandela--raises him to Gandhi status-- and Matt Damon is good as the captain of the rugby team. Lots of good messages that we (the USA) need to hear about "make peace not war."
