Typical Disney but too scary for my 4yo

This was the first movie my 4 yo old daughter has seen in a theater. Unfortunately, the voodoo shadowman was WAY too much for her. She was huddled under my coat hiding from him most of the time. Also, we had an unexpected conversation about death on the way home from the movie as we discussed the demise of Ray. We were hoping for more in the way of Wall-E type suspense versus an evil, sinister villain with scary shadow monsters.
Otherwise, the songs were very catchy, the animation was good, and every once in a while my husband & I had a good chuckle. It was nice to see a princess with a hard work ethic, too. All in all, I'd say it's not the best kid's film I've ever seen, but it was good, and for older kids would probably be a hit.
Yes, I recommend this movie.
