... never looked so sexy. The pair of Owen and Roberts is ravishing in this jet-setting masterful double double-cross. Slick and seductive dialogue, intriguing espionage and fabulous locations as add up to one hot night at the theatre. Effortless-looking performances and a perfect script just bring this spy world to another level. Kudos.
Note to the Ladies: Clive Owen swoon factor in full effect.
Superior acting here ... even if Emily Blunt's "American" accent was a little wanting. I applaud the tenor of the this film with spot on direction that never took the easy next step. There were brilliant moments when the formula ISN'T followed, and the characters plod through their uncertain lives ... trying to make their way in this world. "Cleaning" business aside, the film is serious and touching and reminds us that the ties the bind are the ones that can't be broken. Arkin and Adams command their craft. A fine piece of work that I hope viewers won't miss!
I thought this movie might frighten me enough that I'd be sleepless a night or two after seeing it. But no fear. There were missed opportunities for truly 'haunting' the viewer, and I found the camera work on the aberrations and 'dead' too well-lit to be frightening. The best parts of the film were the acting (by the living), and 5-6 mins. spent exposing us to the backstory. Perhaps if the history had been slowly woven into the film instead of the quick blast of information mid-way, it could have created a crescendo to the end. I left disappointed.
WOW - I knew this movie would be violent, but I really wasn't prepared for the brutual and extended scenes of violence. I found it disturbing, while still rooting for the "good guys". For once, the innocents in the movie weren't portrayed as idiots, but rather as a capable, intelligent people who fight back. If you see if be forewarned - esp. women - that this movie is NOT for the faint of heart.
As a fan of the original work, this one harkened back and I enjoyed it. It's a bit formulaeic, but so what - it's a slasher movie and I found it suspenseful, scary and gory. I think those are all the things it's supposed to be. I liked it!
The International takes you around the world in Bond-esque style, with a more down-to-earth every man hero. Driven by personal demons and righteous intentions, Clive Owen's character beems with realism as he fights the unwinnable fight against "the machine". I was with the story line and all twists and turns until that ending ... that DUD of an ending which was a real let-down. Hopefully there's a sequel so I can find out what else happens! Well acted and beautifully shot. GREAT action sequences.
Already a huge fan of Tyler Perry - he once again succeeded in making a movie with a message which happens to be VERY funny. I must say that the plot wasn't exactly plausible, but the movie was well-acted and created some great situational comedy. NOTE: More Madea please!! Not enough screen time for the leading 'lady'. What can I say - Madea makes me smile ... and you will too.
Great movie with a message. I enjoyed Isla Fisher in this role as well as the entire supporting cast. I've never read the books, so I took the movie at screen value. I found it fun, colorful, delightfully trecherous and *of course* stylish. It must be said that real life doesn't forgive and/or support behavior like Fisher's character portrays, so cheers to the fantasy!
What a great romp through the modern-day dating quagmire. The ensemble cast was perfect at every turn, and you'll recognize the characters portrayed in the film - they are your friends and mine. I enjoyed the exploration of the human condition, the need for independence and coupling, and how it's all so wonderful, sad, tragic and hilarious. I had fun watching this movie and found it unexpectedly charming. I think men will enjoy it too - it's not just a 'chick flick'!
I appreciated the honest attempt to tell the story of all the artists portrayed in this movie. The gritty realism was, at times, completely tragic - and other times heartfelt and hopeful. Biggie was a *large* personality who was the product of his environment. The fates of these young talents is truly sad, but not unexpected: violence begets violence. The coastal 'war' may have ended, but the "machine" behind it may still rage. Let's hope not. Thanks for making this movie!
