Pretty good, but...

I really liked the 3-D experience in the ETX theatre where we saw the movie. The 3-D effects were not exaggerated to the point of being cheesy. The special effects were well done. My disappointments were, as some others have stated, too few swashbuckling scenes and a complete lack of good ol' fashioned ship vs. ship battles. The one scene where you thought there was going to be this big ship battle, went by with a tone of awkwardness and not a shot fired!
Overall, it was very entertaining and the dialog was up-to-par for a POTC film, although I noticed a bit more cursing than usual which I guess the writers justified with the inclusion of a Christ follower in the story (which was a pleasant surprise for me!) I would like to see this movie again and probably will.

What An Excellent Movie!

I wanted to see this movie because I enjoy Geoffery Rush's acting. I read the reviews on this site and one other, so I had high hopes going in. I must say that it was better that I had even hoped it would be. Some of the reviews I read cited the language content and there was some very vulgar language, but it was pretty much all contained in one scene. If you sneezed, you would have missed most of it. Some say it could have been left out, and I would have to agree. It may be more accurate that it was included, but I think the point would have been made without it and the rating could have been PG.
I was impressed by the acting done by each cast member and I cannot wait to add this one to my collection when it comes out on disc.
Bravo!

A Movie for All Ages

This movie recieved alot of hype and for once, the hype was correct! I went to see this movie on opening night and saw it in an ETX theater and it was WOW from beginning to end. It was a great American story that was delivered in a manner that would be suitable for viewers of all ages. I knew the story of Secretariat, but I found myself in suspense throughout. It was sort of a "behind the scene" look at the legend of this great horse. I thought the choices of actors was "right on", especially John Malkovich. His role was quite different from some of the roles he usually plays and he hit a home run with this one. Kudos to Disney and all those involved in bringing this film to the screen!
