First, I hear a lot of people saying this is a confusing storyline. I don't understand that conclusion. Nolan goes to great lengths to keep the audience reminded of where everyone is in the storyline. There aren't sudden jerks in the plot that blow apart the audience's theories about what's taking place in the story, there are no deus ex machina scenes that cause huge leaps of faith in the audience. The concept is very simple: If you're dreaming that you're dreaming could you be dreaming that too? How would you know? Would it matter? Perhaps for some audience members that's just too much to keep track of. That's understandable but it's not a reflection on the film maker's talents. This is a brilliantly crafted story that is, for me, easily the best film I've seen in years. It is smart, beautifully shot, incredibly well acted and masterfully told story of what role consciousness and memory plays in our experience of the world. It's one of those very rare movies I immediately wanted to see again. Not because I thought I'd missed anything the first time around but because I immediately wanted to be immersed back into the world that Mr. Nolan had so fully and wonderfully created.
Brilliant! One of the very best sci-fi fantasy movies I've ever seen and the movie that most feels like what graphic novels feel like. Definitely earns its R rating. Extremely graphic violence and some sexuality but it's all done within the framework of the movie and nothing feels gratuitous. Zack Snyder and the rest of the creative team have created a very complete fantasy world; my disbelief was suspended from opening to closing credits. I will absolutely be buying this on Blu-ray as soon as it's released.
