While I enjoyed the movie, parts of it irked me as a Holmes purist. Holmes was a cocaine addict not an alcoholic, he admired Irene Adler for her brain (she actually outsmarted him) not her body and he really had no sense of humor. The movie was a touch long but the action was good.
Yes, I recommend this movie.
