And this was no exception to the rule. I thoroughly enjoyed this movie. There were harrowing moments that made me realize I'd forgotten that I was watching an animated film. The story line is a simple 1940's style kids adventure, with unexplained circumstances, however that action was fun and did Indiana Jones proud. A recommendation for all family members.
Every year I have to prepare myself for the holiday season. I have my list of Christmas songs designed to pump up my deflated Christmas Spirit(CS); I listen to the classics like Nat King Cole's "Silent Night" and Jonny Mathis' "The most wonderful time of the year" and the new classics from Aaron Neville, "Oh Holy Night" or The Waitresses "Christmas Wrapping". I listen to a list as long as my arm it plays through the days and as my CS builds I get to a point I have to add in the movies. I also have a list of Christmas movies I have to watch every year. If I don't it will be as though the season never happened. The top three being "It's a Wonderful Life", "A Christmas Story" and the original "A Charlie Brown Christmas. I have just found a new one to add to that list "Arthur Christmas". It is just as heart warming as "It's a Wonderful Life", it speaks to the meaning of Christmas as deeply as A Charlie Brown Christmas and it reminds you of the pure innocence of a child's belief in Santa. This is a keeper.......
The first problem was the the theater. There was something wrong with the 3D effect on the bottom left of the screen which cause a distortion through out all 3D showings (previews and the feature). However that was not the worst. The movie seemed stitched together. It started out as a continuation of the last movie and looked really good and then..it blinked and backed down from being anything. "Afterlife" had a big, larger than life feel. It felt like they were going to take us to the deepest level of the Umbrella Corp. and we were going to see the real final battle... and then it looks like someone got cold feet about ending the series and the movie turn into a small little 'B' horror flick with no heart and no soul. Wow passssss on thisssssss!!!!
While not quite the "Home Run", this movie is certainly entertaining. I had chosen to see it at an off time, early morning during a work day. I thought this would get me a quiet theater, but alas school started the next day and I was greeted with several groups of very young children also attending the same showing. I was sure that I was about to sit through a torturous hour and a half, but was I wrong. The movie caught their attention and I never heard a peep out of any of them. I think I was the one making most of the noise, being unable to resist a few guffaws during the showing. The main story line is kid-easy to follow, but at the same time the movie is intelligent enough to engage the adult mind also. There was a secondary story line too about trust and thinking before you act that some of the older kids might pick-up on, but definitely could be aimed at the adult audience. Over all I would not hesitate to recommend this movie to anyone who's young or young at heart.
Nicholas Cage's dead pan acting style not withstanding, this was a real fun ride. Not too in depth, the story line left a lot to be imagined, but what was on the screen was a delight. I thoroughly enjoyed this movie.
If you were ever a kid, if you have ever had a toy that was 'real' to you, that was your best friend then you have got to see the Toy story 3. I saw it in 3D, I've decided that today's 3D Techniques are perfect for animated movies and I will watch all future animated movies in the 3D format from now on. But Toy Story 3 did not need 3D to make the characters 3D to me. Woody, Buzz, Jesse and the whole gang have such character development that they stand out as real as any movie actor or actress on the silver screen. In this, what I think will be the Toy Story finale, the inevitable has happen Andy is grown, he's off to college. What does that means to the gang? Are they to be discarded or left to gather dust in the attic? The determination to these questions is heart warming, touching, a real gem of a movie. Watch this movie; go see it you won't be disappointed, maybe a little teary eyed, but definitely not disappointed.
Wow! the fourth time at bat and they still keep hitting home runs. This movie was funtastic, familyrific and just plain fun. For an old sentimentalist like me it was just great. See it, see it see it. The 3D was great too!
Once again Tim Burton performs magic on the silver screen. I was captivated from start to finish. Not only was the CGI of today up to the task of reflecting both Burton's and Carroll's rich imaginations, but the story line was just as robust, with multiple morals for the watcher to divine. With the efficiency of Netflix I don't buy as many movies as I used to (a current library of 200+). However, every year there are a few movies that I must own. This is one of them.
