Monique Better Get an Oscar

I am not crazy about this movie like most people have been, but the guts of the story are what makes it unique. Never before has there been a film that truly exposes the lifestyles of poor Black families on welfare. Poverty is synonymous with abuse in many different forms. That in and of itself is not what is so shocking, rather the idea and portrayal of it on the silver screen. Maybe this film will help some people understand why some Black people struggle so much with progression. It all starts in the home. The acting is superb across the board. If Jennifer Hudson can get an Oscar for singing a remade song, certainly Monique should get the Oscar and recognition she deserves for a worthy & outstanding performance.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

The Nip Tuck guy did good!

I am not so sure why this movie has not been rated higher, because it is an excellent film. Yes these type of stories have been done several times before, but hasn't everything else in Hollywood? The characters were very well developed and the story was great. I thought the film kept a good pace throughout, and we were thoroughly entertained. I really have no beef with this film and I recommend it to anyone who would like to see an edgy look at rushing into marriage with a psycho. I dig the twisted concept.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Jamie & Gerard, a good combo

Jamie Foxx's performance in this film is very reminiscent of Denzel Washington's persona. I thought the film was great overall. The anticipation of trying to figure out how all of the killings were happening was kind of Eagle Eye'ish, but it was great suspense. The more I see Gerard Butler the more I want to see him. This role was good for Jamie, but enough of the serious stuff; I want to see him be funny again. You will be entertained. This is a great adult night out at the movies type film.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Bone-chilling & Mind-bending

It is absolutely amazing how the simplest made movies can be so intensely frightening. This movie is a horror classic in my opinion. I can understand why many want to compare it to the Blair Witch Project, but this movie is way scarier. The comments about people walking out are true indeed. The theater I went to was packed, and several people just had to get up and leave. I honestly feel like there was some authenticity there; it was just too real. Unless you are a moron this movie is guaranteed to scare you and leave lasting terror in your head afterwards.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Always informative, always exhilarating, absolutely a must see. So wonderful to see what we don't normally see. If only everyone could endure and live in such truth and conviction. Can we truly ever heal the US? It starts with you and I. As long as we continue to embrace our lifestyles as we do now we will continue to be slaves to the banks. Something's gotta give to make us come together and make all of this greed end.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

What a well put together film from TP! I LOVE Taraji! She is such a joy to watch on screen and in general. There was nothing I didn't like about this film. A great feel-good movie. Can't wait for "Why Did I Get Married 2"!

No Stars. Worst Movie of 2009

Many are saying the 3D saved this movie, but even that didn't do it for me. This is the absolute worst movie of 2009. The acting is horrible, the script is horrible, and this is an insult to a very cool series of previously decent films. I almost never dislike a movie to the point where I want my money back, but man o' man did I want my $13 back for this bs. You are warned. If you go, do so only because you want to see something in 3D.
No, I do not recommend this movie.

A Turn On to Jeremy

I've seen this guy around, but I don't think I had ever really watched anything he was in from start to finish. However, this movie I enjoyed. It was not bust-your-gut funny, but there were some elements that made it worth it. I absolutely loved Jeremy's character, his personality, his short height, his tight jeans, it was all well-crafted. Sometimes I did feel they were trying too hard with the script and there wasn't as much room to breathe as I wanted, but I was still entertained. I wish they would've done more with Ken Jeong from The Hangover, because he is really funny, but he did not shine in this movie. The singing angels were probably the funniest thing. It's a good DVD watch.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

What A Way to Start G.I. Joe

This film by far exceeded my expectations! I am so excited that they have begun a great new series of films from my era of cartoons. Transformers, GI Joe, and I hope He-Man is next. GI Joe is non-stop action from beginning to end. Some of the special effects were a little cheesy; I didn't feel they were as top-notch as Transformers, but your eyes will be glued to the screen. The concepts of this film are absolutely amazing. It's a mixture of Mission Impossible, meets Star Trek, meets the Fantastic Four, meets Star Wars. All of the actors did good for what it was worth and nothing was too complex and I liked that about it. I can't wait until the next one comes out, and I hope it doesn't lose anything good that this first one has. Woo-hoo!!!!
Yes, I recommend this movie.

The Bad Seed On Steroids!

First I have to say that all of these people who are bashing this movie due to the adoption aspect, I can not relate. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but I feel that group of folks was getting way too into it unnecessarily. The movie was meant to be disturbing! Anyway, this was an EXTREMELY well written and acted film. Isabelle Fuhrman was absolutely brilliant as Esther. Just like a couple of recent drama/suspense/thriller films I hope this is a continued trend of great writing, acting, and movie-making. The film is very entertaining and I think it is a masterpiece.
Yes, I recommend this movie.
