Interesting Follow-up

Although Tyler Perry movies tend to be a bit predictable, surprisingly this sequel was not. This film has SO much drama & was not as funny as the original, but it went in a good direction. I can tell that Tyler Perry's approach is changing & his writing is becoming poignant, universal, bold & relevant. While he has been known for being model slapstick & making somewhat cookie-cutter black cinema, I saw that this film was a fresh approach outside of that box. The comedy is light, the drama is heavy. Janet Jackson & Malik Yoba's chemistry took my breath away, and it had the intensity I've felt watching a great suspense/horror film. I saw elements of real-life relationship woes, which graduates Tyler Perry in my opinion. This was an authentic approach at telling the story, and for that I applaud this film & would recommend it.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Crafty But Too Slow!

This was a decent effort from Mel Gibson. Great acting, good story, but extremely slow and boring at times. I even dozed off for about 10 minutes and I never fall asleep on movies. I think this would even be hard to watch at home, because it's so slow. The quality of this film is by all means top notch, but it just wasn't my type of movie. Again the acting was great, but it just didn't have enough oomph for me.
No, I do not recommend this movie.

LeToya Luckett, WOW! Where Have You Been?

PK far exceeded my expectations & bravo LeToya Luckett! I saw it yesterday, and today I am still thinking about this character that she portrayed. She was so believable in this role that I almost feel like I know her & she's my own friend going through a struggle. In comparison to other singers turned actress who have played similar roles I cannot readily recall anyone else having such a lasting impression since I saw Aaliyah in "Romeo Must Die". I hope that she will be offered more roles, because she is a true talent & such a natural. The camera loved her beautiful, unique face & her emotions were so believable. As you can see I'm enamored with her, but overall the movie itself was well written & I was happy with this choice.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

So Much Potential To Fail and It Did

This is one of those movies where you see the preview & you're like, "wow, what a cool concept; I can't wait to see where it goes." If written well this movie could've been the beginning of a very interesting portrayal of the spiritual realm of Yetzirah. It was just a flat out weak attempt. Another thing I really didn't like was the whole possession aspect and the killing of all of those innocent people supposedly after them. The whole 'purpose' was just plain stupid, and as much as I hate to say it, there's no other way to put it. The special effects were good, but again they had a great opportunity to take us somewhere & there was no liftoff. Maybe 10+ years ago this would've been somewhat cool, but in 2010 it's just an offensive attempt.
No, I do not recommend this movie.

Meryl's Wit, Alec's Charm, Great Chemistry!

I am a diehard Meryl Streep fan and "It's Complicated" did not disappoint me at all. I fell in love with her way back when she played Mary Fisher in "She Devil" & Madeline Ashton in "Death Becomes Her". Her comic genius has not slowed down a bit, and she NEVER ceases to amaze me. The chemistry her and Alec Baldwin had in this film was perfectly matched and he was as equally brilliant and just charming! I mean they were so natural it was almost like watching a reality show. Absolute genius! I hate giving away scenes from the movie, but gosh the party scene was HILARIOUS! You'll love it, trust me!
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Words Cannot Fully Express

This movie was just so awesome I am almost at a loss for words to express just how wonderful it was. The effects, the story, the acting, the planet Pandora, Eywa, I mean the list goes on & on! I left wishing I could become a Na'vi. This film is loaded with such a profound message that I won't give away. This is a must-see film that makes you wonder just how far we could be as a human race if our evolution was based on working with nature instead of against it. The 3D effects were amazing; we couldn't ask for more as a holiday treat for our family.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Colorful, Magical, Musical Delight!

This was the best Disney animation since "The Little Mermaid"! A new classic masterpiece to add to the legacy of Disney films. The story was just so great, and the colors were spectacular. My nieces and the other kids in the theater were singing the songs while watching and on the way out of the theater. I cannot say enough how much I just adored the story and the music. Wonderful voices, superb color, fantastic story. Can't wait for the DVD!
Yes, I recommend this movie.

No Brother Chemistry, But Good

This film was well acted and written. The little girls are absolute geniuses and the most memorable for me. The four stars are for the story itself, and when observed individually the actors acted very well. What it lacked was chemistry between the brothers and family. Tobey Maguire was isolated and not very well connected to the other actors, chemistry-wise. The two daughters had the most charisma, and surprisingly the connection between Natalie & Jake's characters was more believable than Tobey's character with her. It was a quietly entertaining film, and very different from what I expected from the previews. Not as gut-wrenching as we anticipated, but still a well put together film. It's a great 'grown folks' drama.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Too Long, Too Loud, Too Bad

Of the movies I've seen this year "2012" is the worst movie. There was absolutely no substance, and it was such a waste of an opportunity to present some solid history on the Mayan calendar. All there was were special effects and flaunting of class status and typical government conspiracy scenarios that just meshed together badly. There was a 2-second mention from a reporter on a TV screen that said something about it could be happening as predicted by the Mayan calendar. I'm sorry but wasn't that the whole premise of the tragedy happening in 2012? Maybe if the creators of “The Da Vinci Code” and “Angels & Demons” movies would've tackled this we could get some substance. Garbage!
No, I do not recommend this movie.

I'm hooked on Jacob

I was a skeptic at the initial buzz of these movies, but I'm SO hooked now! I thoroughly enjoyed the film very much, and can't wait for Eclipse on 6-30-2010. The story has so much substance. If I had any complaint it would be there's no blood and gore which leaves you wanting that from a vampire movie, but I know this was geared towards a younger crowd from its inception. If it had a taste of gore this would be an absolute masterpiece, because the passion and intensity is definitely there. Hopefully there'll be a spin-off after these PG-13 series are done, and they can take it to that place of lust, darkness, and blood. Until then, this is still a must see!
Yes, I recommend this movie.
