Even though they moved some events around in the movie, I thought they did a good job protraying the things I liked about the book in the movie. The actors fit the parts, with the exception of Jake, who was OK for this movie but I don't see how he's going to "grow" into his part in the next movie, which I look forward to seeing.
Yes, I recommend this movie.
