The acting and direction in this movie were wonderful and may get Oscar nominations - in fact all of the production but story and script were great. But the movie dragged at the start, the big buildup lead to a dissapointing let-down and I walked out of the theatre almost angry. See it for the acting, but don't bother with following the story.
This movie is a return to movies of the old style, where the substance is more important than the action (although the action seens in this movie are excellent). This movie will probably be nominated for Best Picture. The acting was very good, with Hugh Jackman presenting the best performance I have seen him give.
The movie was a good Bond movie except that there was too little character development, too much action crowding out plot development. Not as good as Casino Royale, but still very enjoyable and a "should-see". Due to the amount of action, it should be seen on the large screen.
I had not thought Stone a Bushie until I saw this movie - why would he go so easy on a man, and an administration, that has not gone easy on us? The movie was both entertaining and sickening. The major problem with the film was that it did not dig deeply enough. It implies the Bush puppet to Cheney and Rove, but based on recent history, most Americans need to be hit over the head harder with this. The constant business failures also were implied but not examined. When walking out of the movie, I only overheard positive things about the movie.
