Another Depp Tour de Force

Depp gives his usual transcendant performance and immersion into the character, Crudup as an early FBI days Hoover building up his secret policia is chilling while Bale is sad the Dillinger case was the one brief fleeting point of life in Purvis' career and Hoover more or less abandoned him after that. The movie seemed to be filmed in almost veiled sepia tones with maybe too much focus on Purvis & no emotion on his part. Depp lights up the screen - truly as the character. The ending is the typical one we've all been fed but the title is telling: not only were Dillinger & hus buddies Public Enemies - so were he and Purvis. Yet Dillinger was astute enough to see how eerie similar their mindsets were.
Yes, I recommend this movie.
