It saddens me to know that the youth of today turns to this type of film and views it as quality in its highest. Two hours of brooding teenagers who try to make eye contact is not what I call epic filming. Additionally, I also find it a poor standard for young women that the leading lady is constantly saved by a man, and finds her only identity by staying with him in the end. For strong female role models, this film is highly lacking.
I have always admired Shyamalan's movies and his ability to bring fantasy and myth to his films. However, I think he compromised somewhat in this film and revealed what was happening very soon. It didn't allow the viewer to keep the mystery like his other films. There was some scary moments, but all in all, it was a bit disappointing. Still worth seeing, but I don't know if it was worth paying for in a theatre. I am still a fan, however. I look forward to his next adventure.
