I want to avoid spoilers, so let me just say I found the story dull, despite the great acting. The screenplay is inept, boring direction and editing, nothing to recommend here. Go see Streep, Hoffman, Adams or Davis in a better film.
While the strory was interesting (if implausible) and, except for Pitt, the acting was superior, the movie was poorly edited, overly long, and at times incoherent.
Pitt's flaws as an actor (the absolute inability to convey any emotion other than "I am hot") are exposed by the excellence of most of the cast.
The story also has many inexplicable plot lines, that took away from its underlying emotions and the rather trite "theme."
When one realizes that this movie is based on a true story it seems even more fascinating, because much of it is so bizarre it is difficult to believe.
Jolie was great, but the rest of the principal actors were mediocre, especiallly the youngsters.
