My kids, boy, 9 and girl, 7, loved this movie. I have enjoyed it too. It was not too much of a sensory-overload trip. Good story, with a great series of books to it, which I hope the kids will want to read. It's a kid of a story that makes the kids think about important issues in their lives, but does not overwhelm them. In my humble opinion, 3D is an afterthought, - safe to wait for a DVD.
Whether you love it or hate, it's up to you, but it sure is groundbreaking. Reminds me of when I first saw "Star Wars" when I was a kid. Also reminds me of "Jurassic Park". The story is cliche, but at least it does not have huge gaping holes in it like "Star Trek". This is the first film I saw in 3D that was actually directed with 3D in mind - it does not just have a couple of those cheesy "comin' at ya!" moments.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Truly outstanding! WATCH THIS FILM!
My kids, 7 and 8, loved this film, and I am so proud of them, because it is not your typical Disney fun-fueled sensory overload roller-coaster ride.
My kids loved it. It's beautifully animated, it's not overstimulating, the story is kind and touching, and there was no violence or vulgar jokes. Perfect!
I expected another "Monster House" or "James and the Giant Peach". "Up" is exquisitely animated. It is a lot deeper, darker and funnier, but at the same time has a lot for the children who are hard to please. Great for the whole family. Can't say that about many movies.
