My husband and I enjoyed this film better than their number two attempt--Scorpion King. The special effects were better, the story line was more interesting and the characters were better played. While I wasn't too keen on the new "Evy", she did a passable job. If you do not go into this film expecting a phenomenal presentation like Lord of the Rings or something, then you will likely enjoy it.
This movie is literally VERY dark, but very deep as well. Heath Ledger does a fantastic job as the psychotic Joker, though we were frustrated at his total lack of a background or motive. Returning characters did a great job as well. There were several very "cool" moments and a lot of good dialogue and depth. The movie DOES seem a bit long. There is some foul language as well, but only a few scenes where it is noticeable.
It is so nice to be able to go see a movie in the theatre and never once be offended by the content. Not only is this one totally inoffensive, but it is compelling from start to finish. While not as dazzlingly magical as the first one, it is still truly enjoyable!
