Manos, the Hands of Fate has to be the absolutely worse movie ever put on celluloid. It is even worse than Ishtar. But put it in the hands of the geniuses from MST3K, then it's a hysterical "brain scrambling" experience. We went to see it live last night while Kevin Murphy, Mike Nelson, and Bill Corbett provided their "riff" and can't wait to see it again. I already bought tickets for the October 25 riff.
I can't remember the last time I laughed this hard and loud. If you were an avid watcher of Mystery Science Theater 3000 or just new to the show, you'll love to watch it live. I was a fan of the original show and watch the DVDs as often as I can.
The only thing I miss is the robots - It would have been great to have Crow T Robot and Tom Servo there. Maybe next time.
Pros bill mike and kevin, quick wit, hysterical one-liners
Cons bad acting, terrible script, inconsistent editing, technically deficient
For my birthday, my husband said he would go with me to see any movie I wanted and it was The Lovely Bones. Even HE enjoyed it! Stanley Tucci was absolutely fantastic playing the "psychopath next door." Having been born the same time as Susie and being 14 in 1973, I fully understood what she felt and the world she lived in. Peter Jackson did a good job portraying that era. I have not read the book but now both of us plan to do so.
