Peter Jackson has done it again. Many call his films "epic" and "masterfully done", while "epic" isn't the word I would choose, the second is nothing short of what District 9 turns out to be. Beginning as a documentary, you get a closer view on the main character and where he's coming from, providing the audience with plenty of information about the landing and the incidents. And then comes the story, which is rich with detail and in depth characters that provide a fulfilling storyline both shocking and sad that provokes some pretty intense thoughts and feelings. See this movie and expect to be moved in some form or another, you will not be disappointed.
For anyone who expects this to be deep and meaningful, pretty much anything else than the action pact, comic relief spotted, hit of the summer that it is, will be disappointed. Everyone else, Rejoice! The effects are amazing, the story line follows that of the original series, even some of the comics (so I am told) and there's never a dull moment. I recommend this movie highly to anyone looking for a fun night out, or day, whatever the occasion. If there's anything I wished for more of in the movie, was maybe a little more interaction with the Transformers themselves, but it's also a relief that they focused on the human aspect of the story more.
The Dark Knight was amazing, much better than the first and I've gotta say it all came down Heath's performance of the joker. When people said that this joker was the best, I believed it to be all hype, no disrespect to Heath Ledger as I know his career was admiriable. However, when I saw his performance in The Dark Knight, I could not help but feel sick (in a good way) at times, at the insanity and the ever mysterious background of the joker, as it came through and through again. My friend even said she was actually scared by the intensity of his performance, which I must admit, was a very real possibility. The movie itself beyond Heath, was Batman at it's best. The love/hate relationship with Bale's character (Bruce) vs. the alter ego (Batman) was a real soul wrencher at times while Cain's man (Alfred) was always there with a dose of wisdom and quick snips of humor to help lighten the heaviness of the overall movie. You want a super hero for the summer? Batman on a nice warm summer night is what I suggest, escape into those AC theaters and enjoy the ride.
This version of the Hulk really brings the audience back to the days of the comic book and even the original series, following Banner and his attempts to try to blend in and disappear off the radar. The look is much better, not the playdough purple and green of the first movie and the action scenes were much grittier and full of a excellent cuts and angles. I really must marvel at Marvel (sorry for the pun), as they begin to splice their heroes together, one after the other, which of course will lead up to the avengers movie and without a doubt, will blow audiences away. I can only say, if you're a fan of the original series, you'll fall in love with this, and even if you're not, you'll still have an amazing night out.
Well that was an amazing time. Laughing every other second and every in between, I enjoyed this movie to the very last second. Many actually stayed for the credits just to look at the screenshots with slight chuckling under their breath. While not the best movie in demoting racial stereotypes, you're going to love this movie simply for Sandler's part.
This movie was a good time, just saw it with some friends and we were cracking up throughout. The fight scenes were rediculous to the point it's almost as though they got "pro" wrestlers in the ring. While the movie spoofs were funny, they were maybe 1 too plentiful. Overall though, a good watch for a night out.
