With black-and-white morality, characters that are more like caricatures than people, and an oh-so-familiar plot, Avatar is typical Hollywood fare. However, if you are willing to gloss over those things and accept the movie for what it is (a popcorn action flick), it is visually stunning. It is easy to forget that nearly everything on the screen at all times is SPFX. We saw it Christmas Eve, and it was a wonderful break from the holiday madness, despite its shortcomings.
Yes, I recommend this movie.
