What a great, inspiring movie. The fact that it is a true story makes it even better. Sandra Bullock does a great job. I read an interview with the real Tuhys and they said their helping Michael wasn't the first kid they reached out to, just the only one who had a book written about him.
I read the reviews and knew what to expect. I liked this movie a lot. I knew the Wild Things were symbolic of Max's home life and looked for ways that was portrayed. I loved the wild thing characters and the funny things they said. My husband and I discussed this movie through dinner afterwards. Someone said that this movie is especially enjoyed by 20-30 year olds who remember the book. I agree. Also like the sound track. The only thing I didn't like was the shaky camera.
I have not read the Narnia books and am not a big fan of fantasy movies. I went with someone who is. I did enjoy this movie though. It is more violent and darker than the Lion Witch and Wardrobe.
This movie was very entertaining. The futuristic stuff seem plausible and the humor was a delight. It still had the "super hero" element but that wasn't all there was as in some movies.
This was an entertaining and cute movie. I would recommend it for all families. There aren't any very scary parts for the youngest child. Jody Foster is great as usual as is Abigail Breslin.
