I prefer the books over the movies. However, I only read the last two books once each. Because of this, I didn't remember all the intricate details that were missed, overlooked, or cut. I wanted to be able to just sit back - and watch the movies. That being said, it's exactly what I did. The movie flowed well and didn't feel like 2.5 hours at all. I was ready for the next one right away!
Yes, I recommend this movie.
