This was a very funny and touching movie. Sandra Bullock was excellent! You don't have to like football to like this movie. I saw this movie with 2 friends that don't like football, but still loved this movie. Bring tissues!
Overall, this was a good movie, but it will be a little disappointing to people who read the book, particularly to those who read the book recently. I attended with a friend who hadn't read the book, however, and she loved it.
For the first 90 minutes or so, this was a somewhat engaging thriller with good special effects. Then it ran completely off the rails and became silly. I won't spoil it for those who haven't seen it yet by telling you how.
Don't bother wasting $10+ to see it in a theater; wait for the DVD.
Australia is a sweeping romantic epic. While the story twists are a bit predictable, they are so well done that you don't mind. There is great chemistry between Nicole Kidman and Hugh Jackman. The young actor who played Nulla was amazing! If you liked Gone with the Wind and Dr. Zhivago, you should love Australia.
This was a very funny movie overall, but several of the jokes fell flat, at least for me. Brad Pitt was hilarious, as was the actor who plays Chief Pope on The Closer. Some parts were really sick, but that's expected in a Coen Brothers movie. Definitely not for the kids, but most adults should enjoy it.
From the commericials, I expected a mildly amusing movie with all the best jokes in the commercials. Boy, was I wrong! I really liked this movie. It was funny and touching and surprisingly even-handed in its politics. Kevin Costner was great, as was the young actress (Paula Patton) who played his daughter, Molly. And keep an eye out for the searing cameo by Mare Winningham. Note for parents: The "s-word" is used quite frequently. Go see this movie!
I was a fan of the series, so I really enjoyed the movie. At almost 2.5 hours, however, I thought it was about a half hour too long (some of the stuff in the middle could have been dropped without losing much. I saw the movie with a friend who had never seen the series, and she thought that not enough had been done to make the characters accessible to people who had never seen the series.
I definitely would recommend the movie to other fans of the series, but probably not to people who hadn't watched the series before.
An enjoyable thrill ride of a movie. Even 20 years after #3, Harrison Ford still can pull off an action hero. Bringing back Karen Allen as Marion Ravenwood was a great move. She still has the most chemistry with Harrison Ford of any of the love interests from #2 and #3. Definitely worth seeing on the big screen.
Just the right amount of comedy and action. Robert Downey, Jr. was the perfect choice for Tony. I'm usually not a big fan of comic book remakes, but I loved this movie!
